Byron Bay

Cape Byron, located on the north coast of New South Wales at 153° 39' east, is the easternmost point of Australia. With its countless beaches, pristine hinterland and relaxed lifestyle, Byron Bay is a popular tourist destination. With average summer temperatures of 21C – 28C and average winter temperatures of 15C – 21C, locals and visitors alike can enjoy many outdoor activities throughout the year, including many festivals. Byron Shire has a population of close to 30,000, while the town of Byron Bay has a population of approximately 9,000. Byron Bay is located just off the Pacific Highway, 800 km north of Sydney and 175 km south of Brisbane. Airports are located at Ballina (30 minutes south) or Coolangatta (60 minutes north) and there are regular bus services.
