The difference
A master’s (MSc, MA) usually continues your undergraduate field, rarely requires work experience, and turns on your academic profile. An MBA is a management programme; most good schools ask for at least two or three years of work experience, and your career progression weighs as heavily as your grades. Which is right depends on where you want to be after graduating.
Is the GMAT or GRE really required?
This has changed. Many schools have dropped the requirement or waive it against work experience, while at top MBA programmes the test still matters. Once your target list is set we check school by school — there is no sense spending months on a test you do not need.

Programme types
Very different formats sit under the same qualification names. Length, fit with your working life and cost all follow from the format.
Full-time MBA
The classic format. It means leaving work, so the real cost has to be counted with the income foregone, not just tuition. The strongest option for a career change.
Executive MBA
Studied while working. The cohort is more senior and the networking value high; tuition is usually higher in return.
MSc / MA
A specialist programme continuing your undergraduate field. Work experience is rarely required; academic profile and module history decide.
Research master’s
Lighter on taught modules, heavier on the thesis. The right start if a doctorate is in view, where supervisor fit can matter more than the school.
Online / hybrid
A route to an international degree without leaving your job. In most programmes the diploma is identical to the campus one — but it does not create visa or work rights.
Pre-Master
A bridge for those short on grades or subject fit. One or two terms to complete the entry requirements for the master’s.
How the process works

We discuss where you want to be after graduating. The master’s-or-MBA question is answered from there. This conversation is free.
- Profile assessment
Grades, work experience and any publications are assessed. Strengths and weaknesses are discussed openly.
- Programme list and test decision
A realistic list is built and each school’s GMAT / GRE requirement established. If a test is needed, preparation is scheduled accordingly.
- File and essays
The academic CV is restructured and we work one-to-one on the motivation letter and essays. We do not write them for you.
- Applications and interview
Files are submitted round by round. When you are invited to interview, we rehearse and give feedback.
- Offer, visa and settling in
Offers are compared on cost and career return; after firm acceptance the visa file is prepared.

The list below is a general framework. The exact set depends on the school and programme type; you receive a list specific to you once your file is opened.

Most MBA programmes require a minimum period of work experience and some grant test waivers. We establish what each school asks for once the list is settled.
When should you start?
MBA applications are taken in rounds, and the first two rounds are stronger for both admission and scholarships. If a test is required, the timetable moves earlier.

Frequently asked questions
How much work experience does an MBA need?
Most full-time MBA programmes ask for at least two to three years; for an Executive MBA it is usually more than five. Some programmes admit candidates without experience, but they are few.
Do I have to take the GMAT or GRE?
Not at every school any more. Many programmes have dropped the requirement or waive it against work experience, while top MBA programmes still weigh it heavily. We check school by school once the list is settled.
My undergraduate grades are low — do I have a chance?
Grades are not the only criterion at master’s level. Strong work experience, a good test score and a coherent career narrative can offset a low average. Where grades are very low, a pre-master bridge programme is an option.
What does an MBA cost, and is it worth it?
The real cost is not limited to tuition; on a full-time programme the income foregone has to be counted too. Once you are clear on what you expect in return, we work it out together. The return varies by person and sector — do not trust anyone who guarantees it.
Can I study while working?
Yes. Executive MBAs run at weekends, and online or hybrid programmes run remotely. These formats, however, generally do not create student visa or post-study work rights.
Can I work there after graduating?
It depends on the country and the immigration rules at the time; many countries grant graduates a work permit for a set period. Because the rules change, we check the current position together before choosing a country.
Are scholarships available?
Most schools offer merit and leadership awards. MBA scholarship competition is especially strong and early rounds are an advantage. We tell you up front which awards are open to your profile.
How many programmes should I apply to?
Every application means separate essays and fees. Five to eight, balancing ambitious, achievable and safe options, is usually a sensible range.
