About the country

About Canada

Canada is a country where nature is never far from city life, with forests, lakes and mountains stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific. English and French are both official languages; English is spoken across most of the country, while French is the language of daily life in the province of Quebec. Thanks to its multicultural character, living in the same neighbourhood as people from all over the world is entirely ordinary here.

Canada offers General English, exam preparation, Business English and programmes for professionals, as well as General French courses. Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Ottawa and Burlington stand out for English, while Montreal and Quebec offer a French-speaking environment. Being able to experience two languages and two cultural atmospheres within one country is one of the things that sets Canada apart.

Canada is reached from Türkiye by a long-haul flight. Bearing in mind that winters can be very cold, we recommend planning your programme dates and packing accordingly. Summers, on the other hand, are mild and lively, and festivals, lakeside activities and long days make it an enjoyable season for short programmes too.

  • Highly liveable cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Halifax
  • The chance to learn French alongside English
  • Pathways from language study to college and university

Life and climate

CanadaCapital: Ottawa

Climate

A continental climate dominates: winters are long, cold and snowy, while summers range from mild to warm. Vancouver, on the Pacific coast, has milder but wetter winters.

Student life

In the big cities, metro, bus and tram networks make getting around straightforward. Ice skating and skiing in winter, and festivals in parks and lakeside activities in summer, shape student social life.
