Learn Arabic in Cairo, inside thousands of years of history.
Egypt, in the north-east of Africa, stretches along the River Nile and is known for a civilisation that goes back thousands of years. The pyramids of Giza, ancient temples and rich museum collections offer history enthusiasts a remarkable place to explore. The official language is Arabic, and in daily life people speak Egyptian Arabic, which is widely recognised across the Arab world through films and music.
Programmes are based in Cairo and consist of General Arabic courses for those who want to learn the language. Set on the banks of the Nile, Cairo is a lively city with historic bazaars, busy streets and a strong café culture, where you hear the language constantly outside the classroom. Hearing the local spoken language on the street, alongside the Arabic you learn in class, helps you adapt to everyday communication more quickly.
The flight from Türkiye to Egypt takes a few hours; this proximity makes family visits between terms easier and makes Egypt a practical choice for studying Arabic. The many Turkish words that come from Arabic, and the similarities between the two cuisines, can also help a newly arrived student settle in more easily.
Learn Arabic in Cairo, inside thousands of years of history.
You use the phrases from class straight away at the bazaar, in taxis and in cafés, reinforcing your Arabic through real conversations.
Historic sites such as the pyramids of Giza, Cairo's museums and the Khan el-Khalili bazaar let you spend your weekends discovering a heritage thousands of years old.
Evening walks along the Nile and trips on a traditional felucca sailing boat let you see the city from a different angle after a busy day of lessons.
Hot desert climate: summers are hot and dry, winters are mild, and rainfall is very low. Dusty winds can occasionally blow in spring.
The Cairo Metro, taxis and ride-hailing apps are widely used for getting around the city. Streets that come alive in the evening, cafés serving tea and coffee, and walks along the Nile are at the heart of social life, and chatting with locals is a natural way to practise your Arabic.
