About the country

About Norway

Norway, with its fjords, mountains and long coastline, stands out for the natural landscapes of Scandinavia. An orderly society, respect for nature and outdoor living are important parts of its culture. Although Norwegian is the official language, English is widely spoken in everyday life, especially in cities such as Oslo, which makes settling in easier for a newly arrived student.

UpLife's options in Norway are in Oslo and consist of English and Norwegian language programmes. These are usually delivered one-to-one or in very small groups, often in immersion formats such as staying in your teacher's home. They suit students who want a personalised learning environment rather than a large language school campus, or who want to take their first steps in Norwegian.

Oslo can be reached from Türkiye by direct or connecting flights. Because Norway lies far to the north, daylight hours change noticeably with the seasons: summer evenings are long and bright, while winter days are short. Knowing this in advance and bringing suitable winter clothing makes settling in easier, especially for students living in Scandinavia for the first time.

Why this country

Why Norway?

A Scandinavian experience close to nature, in the land of fjords.

  • Fjords and remarkable nature

Short trips from Oslo take you to forests, lakes and the coast, so you can balance language study with hiking and outdoor activities. In winter, skiing and snowy walks take centre stage.

  • Personalised language tuition

One-to-one and intensive programmes shape lessons around your level and goals, and you practise with your teacher within everyday life.

  • English and Norwegian together

Improve your English where it is widely spoken, or learn Norwegian from the basics and open the door to the Scandinavian languages.
